The editor loads and so does the demo and i cant understand why the game itself wont load. That being said you're unlikely to get a game that old running on Windows OP, have you tried the good old fashioned method of telling it to run in compatibility mode with Windows XP? There may be a solution to this problem.

Go to "Compatibility". Find "Compability mode" and tick the box.

Lars Ricken, I have exactly the same problem, think it happened after the latest Windows update as was working fine up until that point. It happened on a saved game I was three seasons in to. Got it running fine, ran both the patches, started a new game, made an offer on Anatoli Todorov.
